Up to 20 images · 20 MB per file · 100 MB total
Maximum 16 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side.

Compression Level

For JPG and WebP, Low prioritizes quality; High prioritizes smaller files. PNG uses lossless re-encoding, unaffected by the level.

Advanced quality

Applies to JPG and WebP. Higher quality usually creates larger files. PNG uses lossless re-encoding; its result is unaffected by quality.

Formats and dimensions stay the same. If re-encoding saves less than 1%, we keep your original. Animated images are kept unchanged.

How to Compress an Image

  1. Choose images

Select JPG, PNG or WebP files, or drop a batch above.

  2. Choose a level

Start with Recommended. Choose Low for more detail or High for smaller files.

  3. Compress and compare

Check the preview and actual savings, then download individually or as a ZIP.

How Image Compression Works

The compressor re-encodes the decoded image at its original dimensions and compares the result with your input. It offers a new file only when it saves at least 1%. Otherwise, your original is retained and labeled clearly. Savings depend on the source image and its existing compression.

JPG Compression

JPG is re-encoded as JPG. Low, Recommended and High use 90%, 80% and 60% quality respectively. Advanced quality lets you choose another value. Lower quality can reduce size but may introduce visible artifacts. It cannot restore detail lost in an earlier edit.

PNG Compression

PNG stays PNG, including transparent pixels. Canvas re-encoding can sometimes reduce file size, but it is not a dedicated PNG optimizer. Quality presets do not affect PNG encoding. Already optimized PNGs often stay unchanged; there is no guaranteed reduction.

WebP Compression

Still WebP images use adjustable, lossy WebP encoding with transparency preserved. Even 100% quality is not a lossless mode. Animated WebP and PNG files are kept unchanged so their animation is not lost.

Compression vs Resizing

Compression changes how image data is encoded. Resizing changes its pixel dimensions. This tool does not resize: a 1920 × 1080 image remains 1920 × 1080. Need different dimensions? Try Resize Image.

How to Reduce Image File Size

Compare Recommended with High compression and inspect fine details before replacing your original. If the source is already efficiently encoded, keeping it may be the best result. A different format can sometimes help, but that requires a separate, explicit conversion.

Privacy and Browser-Based Processing

No. Images are compressed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to our server. Homepage transfers use temporary browser-local storage and are removed when retrieved. Your selection and results are cleared when you refresh, so download them before leaving the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Images are compressed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to our server. Homepage transfers use temporary browser-local storage and are removed when retrieved.

Is the IMGVERO image compressor free?

Yes. You can compress and download images without paying or creating an account.

Which image formats can I compress?

JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP are supported, including mixed batches. Each result keeps its input format. Animated PNG and WebP files are retained unchanged rather than flattened.

Does compression change image dimensions?

No. The compressor keeps the decoded width and height. JPEG orientation is applied by the browser, so rotated photos keep their visible orientation.

Will compression reduce image quality?

JPG and WebP use lossy encoding and may lose detail, especially at higher compression levels. PNG uses lossless re-encoding of the decoded pixels. Original metadata is not copied to re-encoded results, and browser color handling can affect appearance.

Why did my PNG not become much smaller?

PNG may already be well optimized. Browser PNG encoding does not use the quality slider. If re-encoding saves less than 1%, the tool retains the original and reports no saving.

Can I compress multiple images at once?

Yes. Select up to 20 images, each up to 20 MB, with 100 MB of inputs per batch. Each image can be up to 16 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Results are limited to 100 MB per batch. MB here means 1,048,576 bytes. Device memory may impose lower limits.

Can I use the image compressor on mobile?

Yes, in a browser that supports image decoding and canvas encoding for your format. Smaller batches use less memory. Download your results before refreshing or closing the tab.
