Why Convert PNG to JPG?
JPG is widely supported and often makes photographs smaller and easier to share. PNG is a better choice when you need transparency, sharp text, or lossless image data. Converting won’t always reduce file size, especially for simple graphics.
JPG and JPEG refer to the same image format. This converter saves files with a .jpg extension and keeps the original image dimensions.
PNG vs JPG
| Feature | PNG | JPG |
|---|---|---|
| Compression | Lossless | Lossy; adjustable quality |
| Transparency | Supported | Replaced with a solid background |
| Best suited to | Logos, screenshots and graphics | Photographs and sharing |
| File size | Depends on image content | Often smaller for photographs |
Transparency and Background Color
PNG images can contain transparent pixels, but JPG images cannot. When you convert PNG to JPG, transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose in the converter. White is selected by default because it works well for most product photos, screenshots and documents.
Image Quality
The JPG quality slider lets you balance file size and visual detail. A higher setting usually keeps more detail and creates a larger file. A lower setting can reduce file size, but may add visible compression marks, especially around text or sharp edges.
Privacy and Browser-Based Processing
IMGVERO's PNG to JPG tool processes selected images in your browser. Your images are not uploaded to an IMGVERO server for conversion. Keep the tab open until your downloads are complete, because refreshing the page clears the active working selection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this PNG to JPG converter free?
Yes. You can convert and download images without paying or creating an account.
Can I convert multiple PNG files?
Yes. You can choose multiple PNG images and convert them in one batch, subject to the file count, file size and image size limits shown above the converter.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion happens in your browser. If you selected images on the homepage, this page retrieves and deletes their temporary browser-local transfer. Nothing is uploaded. Keep this tab open until you’ve downloaded your results; refreshing clears the working selection.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
JPG cannot store transparency. Transparent and partly transparent pixels are blended with your chosen background color. The default is white.
Which quality setting should I use?
90% is a useful starting point. Lower it for a smaller file, then inspect the result. Even at 100%, JPG uses lossy compression and won’t preserve every detail of the PNG.
Does converting PNG to JPG reduce quality?
JPG uses lossy compression, so the result may not preserve every pixel exactly. You can use a higher quality setting if visual detail matters more than file size.
What is the difference between JPG and JPEG?
JPG and JPEG are the same image format. The shorter .jpg extension is common and is used for downloads from this converter.
Are there file or image size limits?
You can select up to 20 PNGs, each up to 20 MB, with 100 MB of input files in total. Each image must be no larger than 16 megapixels or 8,192 pixels on either side. Completed JPGs are limited to 100 MB per batch. Here, MB means 1,048,576 bytes. Available device memory may impose lower limits.
Are animation and metadata preserved?
No. Animated PNGs become a still JPG using the first frame. This tool exports the visible pixels rather than copying the original metadata. Browser color handling and JPG compression can also change the appearance slightly.
Can I convert on my phone?
Yes, in a current browser with image decoding and canvas support. Large images may need more memory than your phone has available. Try a smaller batch if conversion fails.
Can I change settings after converting?
Yes. Changing quality or background clears the old JPG results so the next conversion uses your new settings. Your selected PNGs remain available.
