When Should You Use PNG?

PNG is useful for graphics, text and workflows that need lossless image data. For an existing JPG photograph, keep the JPG if a smaller file is your priority. Converting to PNG keeps the background opaque and does not remove it.

Image Quality

PNG saves the decoded pixels without further lossy compression. It cannot recover detail already lost in a JPG. There is no quality slider because PNG does not use JPEG-style quality settings. The output keeps the decoded image dimensions and orientation, where supported by your browser. Original metadata is not copied.

Privacy and Browser-Based Processing

This JPG to PNG converter processes your files on your device, in your browser. No image is uploaded for conversion. If you arrive from the homepage, the tool retrieves and removes the temporary browser-local transfer. Download your results before refreshing or closing the tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the IMGVERO JPG to PNG converter free?

Yes. Convert and download your images without paying or creating an account.

Are my JPG images uploaded to a server?

No. This converter decodes and converts images in your browser. Homepage selections use temporary browser-local storage, which is removed when the tool retrieves them. Refreshing clears the active selection.

Can I convert multiple JPG files at once?

Yes. Choose up to 20 JPG or JPEG images, with a 20 MB limit per file and 100 MB of input files per batch. Each image can be up to 16 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side. PNG results are limited to 100 MB per batch. Here, MB means 1,048,576 bytes. Available memory may impose lower limits.

Does converting JPG to PNG improve image quality?

No. PNG stores the decoded image without further lossy compression, but it cannot restore detail already lost through JPEG compression. PNG files will often be larger.

Will JPG to PNG create transparency?

No. JPG images have no transparent pixels. The PNG keeps the existing background; converting does not remove it.

What is the difference between JPG and PNG?

JPG uses lossy compression and is usually smaller for photographs. PNG uses lossless compression and supports transparency, making it useful for graphics and repeated editing. JPG and JPEG are names for the same format.

Can I use the converter on mobile?

Yes, in a current browser with image decoding and canvas support. Keep the tab open until you have downloaded your results. Try fewer or smaller images if your device runs out of memory.

Are orientation and metadata preserved?

The converter uses the orientation supplied by browser decoding and saves the displayed pixels. It does not copy the original metadata. Color handling may vary between browsers.
